Air cooler than water, sunrise smokin in my view…
Geese in a pink and golden hue…
Quiet and still in the purple dew…
Luvin life on the lake, just a Sunday morning in front of you.
Ever changing
This was the weekend that brings the invasion.
It is the memory that makes the occasion.
Welcome the googans that come into view.
Just until labor day they’ll do what they do.
Thank you to all that have fought and have died, paving the way to turn this tide.
Keeping safe to make the transition, so all of us can just keep on fishin.
Freedom to partake, right on que.
Luvin life on the lake equally…usny…right along with you.
One thing their is no lack of in my view is the sunset along the waterfront.
365 days is a plethora of opportunity and as you can imagine thousands of shots as each one makes its decent from the sky, through clouds, or not…into the dunes and the water.
Romantics love sunsets, fisherman are keen on that time of day, they are the back drop of many life adventures, pictures and places.
With as many that fall right in front of my face, I struggle not to be a sunset snob. Probably one of the most photographed phenomenons of nature, little is required of the photographer, as the light cast sparks the creative eye, not only on the event, but the subject matter on which it falls.
Hope you enjoy some of the sunset in my view…

Spring @Salmon River Falls…usny
The water has to come from somewhere. East of the lake, the Salmon River flows 44 miles, before it hits the falls, a 100 ft drop…winding the rest of the way to the lake …it provides a spawning haven for the fish which gives it it’s name. Spring brings turbulent waters as the melt from the tug hill makes its way to the lake…
Hope you enjoy the view…

Technically, not …As a blue moon is commonly thought to be the 2nd full moon in the same month, which is rare, thus the expression.
Due to as misinterpretation in March 1946, by the Sky & Telescope magazine, this common definition is actually incorrect. Folklore named each of the 12 moons in a year, so when thirteen appeared, it got the name, the other 12 keeping theirs. Harvest moon and hunters moon occur in the fall…
According to The Farmers Almanac, and the technical definition “blue moon” is the third full moon in any period between either solstice and equinox, or between equinox and solstice, which contains four full moons.
There is not one in 2014, so these will have to do. We will not view the real thing until 2016.
March is actually a worm moon, April a pink moon. Summer brings us a flower, strawberry, buck and sturgeon moon.
Although not as rare as rare as the technical term, the chance at this view is still qualifies as a rarity. Only once a month, clear skies, up early enough to capture it’s decent, and a decent shot, the moon, not easy to get.
Moon over my view…luvin life on the lake…usny.
Colors along the waterfront this time of year have to be captured when you can find them. Just a couple of places I have found a colorful view…luvin life on the lake…usny.
We have always referred to this as the ice house. I don’t know how it got the name, as it housed boats in its day. The sands of time has changed its view…but it remains a consistent one in mine.

Mostly days have been gray, but when the sun does come out…
HARBORFEST- 25th Anniversary…Part 1
For 23 out of 25 years (we have only missed 2), my view has been from the waterline. How else do you participate in a harbor event, if not by boat. Floating to the harbor in Oswego, NY has been a yearly tradition for us and now at the 25th anniversary of the festival, I am reminded how much some things change and yet somethings stay the same.
For those who venture down the canals and launch from various points along the eastern shores of Lake Ontario, this mid summer festifus never disappoints. Fireworks, the climax of the celebration, put on by the famous Grucci Brothers…has never missed a beat.

Weather has never delayed or cancelled the most marvelous spectacular in the sky I have ever seen year after year. Although a few years storms have blown in immediately upon their conclusion that has actually sunk ships (at least one), and has made for interesting departures by those that have to leave by land or by sea. Docked, we have only had to batten down the hatches as a blow has commenced as if there is an objection from the clouds to the color, smoke and noise.

I will include some of my best of the fest over the years…so enjoy the view and share the tradition of Oswego Harborfest and luvin life on the lake…usny. More to come…but I’ll start with the climax…
