Blue solitude…

A closer, cleaner shot always eludes me, as my blue neighbor consistently keeps a safe distance in pursuit of solitude.


The largest heron in North America,  he is a welcome wader in my view.


Sneaking up,  I am spotted and in his flight a few more trys…to capture greatness


Oh Great Blue…in my view

Someday… will capture you

Till then I’ll settle

First to dock…?

Whether or not these fat bellied red breasts are a sign of springs seems to be a matter of debate.

But there is no debate they are the first to land at the dock this spring.

As we are half in and half out of the transformation, their bath tub, still not sure if it wants to be frozen or float.

The ice coverage on the great lakes has been the most extensive since 1979.

The damage is obvious.  Ice dams blocked outlets in January on Ontario…

west winds  brought high water and forcing ice.  You would not have realized, with 3 times the volume of water as sister lake Erie, freezing  almost completely over this winter, we would be left the twisted fate for 2014, from a 59% freeze over.

In the right spot some can handle the liquid temp not far from the solid one, as the thrill of the first swim and retrieve wins out.

As the water becomes suitable for all to float…

we see the robin, as a sign of spring, sure as we witness the melt…
